Mahima Jain is an independent editor and journalist reporting on gender, environment, culture and socio-economic issues. She is passionate about writing deeply-researched narrative pieces that shine a spotlight on systemic issues and the lives of those at the margins.

Mahima was nominated for the prestigious SOPA Awards For Editorial Excellence 2022 (Reporting on Women’s Issues, Regional) for her story on domestic violence as a public health issue. She was a runner-up for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award 2021 for her stories covering impact of migration on India’s women farmers, domestic violence, and agrobiodiversity. Her story on the burden of microloans on women for The Fuller Project won the UNFPA Laadli Media Award For Best Feature in 2021. Her work was on women left-behind in India’s migration wave was shortlisted for the Red Ink Awards 2021. Her podcast on rabies control in India received a special mention at the One World Media Awards 2022 in the podcast and radio category.
